Digital artists prefer software that allows them to work faster. It’s a good thing then, that Corel Painter X offers brushes that are faster than its predecessor. Its brushstrokes are ten times faster than Corel Painter VIII.
With version X, the user can work faster with the “Rotate/Flip” function so the user can control the canvass with a few shortcut keys. While drawing with shapes and paths, the “snap to path” tool can speed up drawing. Also added to the new version is the “Iterative save”, which is similar to the layer comp feature of Adobe Photoshop.
The new feature, “Artists’’ Oils”, renders the graphic artist’s work a look similar to that of creations done by natural artists. This enhancement in natural media brushes allows the user to choose tools and brushes; select the medium to be used such as crayons, watercolors, pencils, chalks, pastels, oil paints and others; and even pick the type of canvass, what with the various options for textured surfaces.
And like the real watercolor, the Digital Watercolor can be managed easily since it features “wet” paint that permits the user to make changes with the brushes even when he/she has already made the strokes.
Another addition is the “Quick Clone” tool that lets the designer make copies of his work. With just a few clicks, the work could be reproduced easily and swiftly.
Corel Painter IX is now also capable of opening files created from Adobe Photoshop. The channels, layer sets and layer masks are supported as well. Aside from Adobe Photoshop, the Painter is also compatible with Wacom Intuos3.
Indeed, with the Corel Painter X, the digital artist has tools in his hands that could put him in the lead of the pack.
